Carved over one of the side doors in the west facade of the cathedral at Milan, Italy, are some thorns and the inscription, "That which pains is but for a moment." Over the door on the opposite side are some roses with the inscription, "That which pleases is but for a moment." Above the huge central door to that magnificent structure is carved a cross with the inscription, "That only is important, which is eternal." -- Dickson
