Bob was a very successful business person, excelling in his job, moving up the corporate ladder of success. Yet, as he was moving up he was also slipping down the ladder of his personal life. Bob was at first what he thought just a social drinker, one who could stop anytime he wanted to. Gradually, Bob began to realize that his drinking was not something that he had control upon. It took Bob many months of self-rationalization, almost losing his job and family to realize that he was being led by a spirit other than God. One evening Bob's family, friends and pastor were waiting for him to come home from work. He came home from work at his usual late time, his usual drunken self, only to be greeted by people who love him. He was confronted for the first time out of love by those around him who loved him deeply. It was a painful confrontation. It is never easy to have tough love in this world. Bob listened as his family, pastor and friends poured out their love to him but confronted him with his drinking problem. They cried and prayed together. It was within days that Bob headed off to a recovery center to begin handling this problem that was wrecking his life. He went to a Christian Drug and Alcohol Rehab and Recovery Center. They were a tough three weeks for Bob as he dealt with issues and concerns that led up to his drinking problems. He learned that he had a disease and he was not alone in his problem. He was directed to a divine power who healed and loved far beyond his initial expectations. As he came home to his wife and family, Bob was a different person. He knew that he still had a disease and would need to remain clean for the rest of his life. He was now a changed man, guided not by the spirits of this world but by the Spirit of God. -- Smith
