Barry assumed that he would be the leader of the group. After all, the astronomy club was
his idea, he took the initiative to get permission from the college administration to have
such a group, sought out a faculty advisor, and advertised its first meeting.
When other interested students arrived, Barry took the floor and shared his dreams and visions for the group. This group would explore the solar system, planets, the moon, and much more. They also hoped, with the advisor's permission, to have occasional access to the college's planetarium.
Several meetings passed with Barry in charge. Then, one student suggested they elect an executive. Barry thought he would be automatically elected president, since he worked so hard to get the group started. But when the ballots were all counted, Barry didn't win. It was a humbling moment for Barry, much like the moment those in Jesus' parable felt when they were asked to give up their place at the table.
