Asking Grandfather to pass the butter was an invitation to have your thumb imbedded knuckle-deep in the stick of butter. And then a good-natured giggle worthy of Ed Wynn would come bubbling out of his mouth. Such healthy teasing and joking around were integral parts of Grandfather's personality. Joining his healthy sense of humor was an undying love for his Lord, his church and his family.
