The apostle Paul offers in this text an opportunity for those of us in the post-modern era to think about the meaning behind some of the phrases we use in everyday speech. Consider the frequency with which we use phrases to indicate we do not understand something. For example: I don't see your point; I'm in the dark on this one; Go ahead, enlighten me; It's not clear to me. Though we are speaking of a lack of understanding, an intellectual gap, we are using language that is physiological in nature, that requires "seeing" something that is obscured.
