Any book on parenting that does not include at least one chapter on the skill of cutting a pie so that every piece comes out exactly equal is not worth buying. Without any question, this is surely one of the most important aptitudes required for effective childrearing. For as surely as two or more children sit down at a table and a piece of pie is set in front of them, they will begin comparing. Their sense of sight in this area is known to be especially keen, capable of detecting differences that even the most highly calibrated instrument might fail to detect.
