Anna and Pepe rejoiced over...

Anna and Pepe rejoiced over the birth of their youngest child. After many years of medical treatments, they were sure they would never be able to have another child, so they considered adoption. But Anna had to cancel two appointments with Social Services because she had the flu. The flu, it turned out, happened to be a tiny baby forming within her. They were ecstatic, and after a few months, Anna regained her energy and strength. They prepared for the baby with much enthusiasm. Finally the big day came. A healthy, energetic baby boy was born to them. What joy! Then came the time to be named. The baby had been circumcised and was to be baptized. They had agonized over the decision. They wanted to call him after his uncle, Pepe's brother, who had died in a car accident at the age of seventeen. But would it be too sad for the grandparents? Would the baby still have his own identity? Anna and Pepe prayed for an answer. The morning of the christening came and they presented their child. Sergio, after the uncle, would be his first name. And Mateo (Matthew), which means "Gift from God," would be his middle name. They presented Sergio Mateo to the priest to be blessed by God.
