Of all the names for Jesus, Christy's favorite was "Emmanuel," for it expressed so well how she thought of him -- as "God with us." Too often she heard folks speak of Christ as someone in the distant past, or someone with whom they had no real relationship. That made her sad because, for many of them, it was painful to call themselves Christians and yet have no personal experience with the one whom they professed as Lord.
