By all appearances they should...
By all appearances they should have given up in the twelfth year after they began. For the Lutheran missionaries who came to Papua New Guinea, it was not until the thirteenth year that they witnessed their first convert to the Christian faith. If they had taken their eyes off Jesus and the call to which he called them when he said, "Come to Papua New Guinea," they would have given up. But they remained undeterred, faithfully focused on their mission, giving credence to the saying, "Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off the goal."
