An American soldier, persuaded to attend chapel one Sunday morning, heard a blistering sermon on the Ten Commandments.
One by one, the preacher sounded forth the commandments:
You shall have no other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself a graven image.
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
Honor your father and mother.
You shall not kill.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet.
As the soldier left the chapel, wiping the perspiration from his forehead, he whispered to his companion, "Well, at least I have never worshiped any graven images."
