The 1994 Winter Olympics will live long in the memories of the residents of West Allis, a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was the last time their hometown boy, Dan Jansen, would be able to participate in the competition, and they wanted him to bring home the gold. Dan had had a streak of bad luck at the Olympics. It seemed he could win anywhere but there. The first time he came to the Olympics, his sister died just before his first race. Dan was determined to compete despite his pain, as an honor to his sister, but he failed.
