In the 1980 Olympic Winter Games Bob Johnson was the coach of the American Hockey Team. One day before the series started he called Mike Eruzione, the captain of the team, into his office. The coach told him that at times he would need to single him out to make a point for the whole team and get them to play better. Coach Johnson further told Mike Eruzione that, "When I single you out and criticize you by calling you Mike you will know that is what I am doing." During the series there were times when the coach did just that. He criticized the team's captain to get the rest of the team to play better. The results were a Gold Medal for the hockey team. By defining the role of his captain, the coach was able to achieve the results they all wanted. -- Watson
