In 1977 I stood in a sidewalk-wide line of people completely encircling the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. That day I had joined many thousands of people, some of whom
had waited all night, to view the “Treasures of Tutankhamun,” the Egyptian boy-pharaoh who had reigned from 1334-1325 B.C. Fifty-five works of art from his tomb --fifty-five in honor of the fifty-fifth anniversary of the discovery of his tomb by Howard Carter in November, 1922 - were on display in a tour of museums across our land.
