Welcoming God
Children's Activity
Object:
Materials:
Welcome sign example
Colored paper
Cardboard
Glue
Scissors
Markers
Pens
Glitter or other decorating material
String
Hole punch
Directions:
1.
Have a piece of cardboard cut into a rectangle for each child. It should be about 12"-16" long. You will want to have an example of a welcome sign that you have created for them to see.
2.
Give each child a piece of the cardboard and two pieces of colored paper. They may want to choose different colors for each side of their sign. They will need to cut their pieces of paper to fit one on each side of the sign. Once the paper is cut for each side of the sign, they should write, "Welcome" on one side of the sign and on the other side of the sign they should write, "May the Lord be with you!" Each message should be written large enough to be seen from a sidewalk or a porch.
3.
After they have written the words for each side of the sign, they should decorate both sides of the sign. Once they are decorated, the pieces of paper should be glued to the sides of the cardboard.
4.
Once the glue is dry, a hole should be punched at the top on each end and a string should be put through the hole and tied so that the children can hang their sign up for all to see.
5.
They will then see that they have two sides or two ways to greet people in the name of the Lord.
