Good morning, boys and girls. How many of you who are in grade
school remember the first day of first grade? (Let them answer.)
Was the first day of school an exciting day for you? (Let them
answer.) I brought something with me this morning that reminds me
of first grade. (Show the object and tell what it is.) I want to
tell you a story about a little girl about your age who had just
started the first grade. First, I'd like for all the children who
aren't yet in the first grade to raise their hands. (Let those
children raise their hands.)
