The source
Children's sermon
Object:
2 liter bottle of soda pop and a glass
Today I want to teach you a new word. You might already know
the word. The word that I want to share with you today is the
word source. It is important that we understand this word because
the Bible today talks about Jesus being the "source" of eternal
salvation. We really want to understand what this means.
I brought with me a bottle of pop. This bottle is the "source" of my drink of pop this morning. In other words -- if I want some pop, I'll find it in the bottle. The bottle is my "source" of pop. It is where I will find it.
There are many sources in our lives. The source of our drinking water is in the ground. The source of my cotton clothing is in the fields of cotton. The source of wool clothing is in the sheep grazing in the pastures. The source of this bottle of pop is in the grocery store. The source for the grocery store is the bottler. So you see even our source has a source.
This word is important to us because it tells us where we can find eternal life. It is extremely important that we find the source of this life. Can any of you tell me where that source of eternal life might be found? (Let them answer.) The Source of eternal life is Jesus alone. If you want to find it anywhere, you will find it only in him.
