Seeing God
Children's Activity
Object:
Materials
Small dowel rods or craft sticks
Squares of colorful construction paper, about 6 inches by 6 inches
Straight pins
Scissors
Glue
Instructions
Talk with the children about God being with us all of the time even though we cannot see God.
Help the children make simple whirligigs to show that God is with us even though we can't see him. Give each child a large square of construction paper. Have them cut a straight slit from each of the four corners to within about one inch of the center of the square. Fold one point of each triangle in to the center of the square and glue each point to the center. Using a straight pin, affix the whirligig to a small dowel rod or craft stick.
Have the children blow on their whirligigs to make them spin. They can't see their breath making them spin, but it is there, just as they cannot see God who is always with us.
