Good morning, boys and girls. Isn't it a wonderful day? I love the springtime when everything is coming alive and you can just feel God in the air around you. How many of you can feel God's love? (let them answer) I brought along this little experiment that I hope shows you what I mean.
First, I have this big bucket and it is filled with water. Can you read the words printed on the side of this bucket? (let them answer) Right, we call the bucket filled with water, "God's Love." Now we have a big pitcher and it is called what? (let them answer) Right again! This is the "Children of God" pitcher. Do you know anyone that is a child of God? (let them answer) You are so good today! That's right; you are the children of God. Then we have some different sized glasses and they are called "Friends" or "Others."
Let's take the bucket of water and pour it into the pitcher. (pour it slowly and let it fill up to the brim) This is God's love coming from God to you. You are the pitcher and the pitcher is filled up. What should we do? (let them answer) Very good, let's pour some of the water in the pitcher into the glasses marked Friends. (pour it into the glasses marked friends and fill them completely up; then go back and fill up the pitcher again) Oh my! The pitcher is filled up again. What shall we do with the extra water? (let them answer) We can't pour it into the glasses marked Friends because they are full. I know. We will pour the water out of the Friends glasses into the Others glasses, and we will refill the Friend glasses from the Children of God pitcher. Then we will refill the pitcher with the water in God's Love bucket. But then what are we going to do with all of the water in the Children of God's pitcher? It looks like God's love never runs out and neither does the water in the Children of God's pitcher nor in the Friends glasses or the Others glasses. God has so much love that it just starts to overflow everywhere, doesn't it?
That's what the Bible says will happen. The more we use God's love and share it, the more love we get from God. I like the way this works. God is full of love. He has more love for us than we will ever know and we can keep on giving it to our friends and others and we will still have more than we can use.
