Children's Activity
SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEME AT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT
HOME
Materials:
Slice-and-bake cookie dough*
Cross-shaped cookie cutter
Plastic knives
Baking sheet covered with waxed paper or parchment
Life Savers, Jolly Ranchers, or other hard, colorful candies
Plastic baggies
Hammer or rolling pin
Directions:
1. Give each of the children a slice of the cookie dough.
2. Have the children cut cross shapes from the dough using the cookie cutter.
3. Help the children use plastic knives to cut diamond shapes inside of their cross cookies and them place these on the lined cookie sheet.
4. Place the hard candies in the baggies, keeping the colors separate. Use a hammer or rolling pin and break the candies into small pieces.
5. Have the children sprinkle small amounts of the colored candies into the cutouts in the crosses.
6. Bake the cookies according to the recipe.
7. Share and enjoy the stained-glass cookies.
*A sugar cookie mix could be substituted and prepared for rolling before class
