Here, there, and everywhere
Children's Activity
Object:
Materials
A story book with a short story that can be read
Instructions
Pick out a very good story with some details in it that are important. Tell the story to one child and ask him/her to tell the story to another child. That child passes it on until the story reaches the fourth or fifth child. Ask this last child to give you a report of the story as he was told it so that everyone can hear it. Then read the story from the book and compare it with what the last child said. There should be a lot of differences and it should take a lot of time.
Our goal is to explain to children why Jesus returned to heaven rather than to stay here on earth. The world population today, June 29, 2003, is 6,341,498,530. (On April 2, 2003, when this was written, the population was 6,324,856,835, and the population will have increased by 16,641,695.)
The Holy Spirit can be with every one of the more than 6 billion people on earth all at once, rather than Jesus being with crowds of only 5,000 and healing only one person at a time. God's plan was to return Jesus to heaven where he and the Father can work through the Holy Spirit at all times.
