God is love
Children's sermon
Object:
throwing a kiss
Good morning, boys and girls. Have you ever thrown anyone a
kiss? (Let them answer.) When you throw someone a kiss, it means
that you love that person. You love that person, even though you
can't see the kiss that you throw. My children and I throw each
other kisses. Here's how we do it. (Demonstrate throwing a kiss
from the palm of your hand.) I want to tell you a story about a
boy who went to visit his grandparents for a weekend. When he
left his home, his parents threw him a kiss. He put the kiss in
his pocket. (While you tell this follow the actions you
describe.)
He arrived at his grandparent's house and finally went to bed. Before he turned out the light, he took the kiss from his pocket and put it on his cheek. Has that ever happened to you? (Let them answer.) When you throw someone a kiss it is invisible. You can't see it. Even so, you know that it is there. The boy kept his kiss in his pocket all day and used it at night.
Invisible kisses are like God. The Bible says that no one has ever seen God. It also says that if we love one another, God lives in us. God is like an invisible kiss, isn't God? No one has ever seen a kiss that you throw, but you know that the kiss is there. If you are like the boy, the kiss lives in your pocket until you need it.
The next time you throw a kiss to someone, remember God. No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God lives in us. God is like a kiss we throw. We can't see the kiss we throw, but we know that it is there.
