With God, it's easy
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: It has been said that the message of
Christianity, that we are saved as a gift of God through faith in
Jesus Christ as our Savior, is rejected by many because it's too
easy. People expect that the way to reach Heaven must be complex
and require a lot of training and effort. When they are told that
all God requires us to do is believe in Jesus, they turn away to
religions that lay out more rigorous requirements. We want our
children to learn the truth that God has done all that was
necessary for our salvation and all we have to do is believe.
*Set out a padlock in front of the children and tell them
that you are going to play a game that involves picking the right
key for the padlock. Put out a lot of keys for them to pick from
and let several try to pick out a key that works. If nobody picks
the right key, which is likely if you have enough keys there,
show them which of the keys is the correct one and let them open
the lock. Explain to them that this is an illustration of how God
works to make it easy for us to get into Heaven. Just as you
showed them the right key, God shows us that the key to Heaven is
believing in Jesus Christ. In the unlikely event that someone
does pick the right key without your help, you can use that as an
illustration of one who is shown the way from birth by being born
into a Christian family. It will still be easy to point out how
easy it is to pick the right key when one is told which key is
the right one.
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Sing "What A Friend We Have In Jesus."
