Forgiving each other
Children's Activity
Object:
Materials
Ribbon or cording, 22 inches for each child
Beads, 2 heart-shaped beads and 7 pony beads for each child
Safety pins
Glue gun, for instructor to use
Instructions
1. Jesus wants us to forgive people as many times as needed, just as he does for us. Use this pin to remind you that forgiveness never should end.
2. Take a length of the cording approximately 22 inches long and fold it in half.
3. Tie an overhand knot in the top, using a pencil for a spacer.
4. Slide both ends through a heart bead.
5. Tie a square knot close to the end of the heart bead.
6. Now take the ends of the cording and string through the hole in the first pony bead, from opposite sides.
7. Pull bead up toward knot and tighten cording (but not too tight).
8. Repeat with the rest of the pony beads.
9. Leave approximately 1.5 inches of cording after the end of the beads.
10. Tie another square knot.
11. Slide both ends of the cording through the other heart bead; tie an overhand knot.
12. Cut the ends of the cording .5 inches long and hot glue the ends together to form another loop.
13. Now the child can pin the counter on his or her shirt.
14. Tell the children that when they forgive someone, they can slide the bottom bead down to the knot in the cording. Each time they forgive someone, repeat the process, sliding the beads down the cording to rest on top of the one from before.
15. When all beads are at the bottom of the pin, take off the safety pin, turn the pin over, and start again!
