Forever!
Children's sermon
Object:
a diamond ring (or object that looks like a diamond)
Good morning! Today I brought a diamond with me because they
say, "A diamond is forever!" In other words, a diamond lasts a
long time. Do you believe that? (Let them answer.)
Many things do not last long. It seems like everything changes. People grow to be bigger and bigger, so they need new clothes and bigger shoes. People move to different homes. Telephone numbers sometimes change. Buildings fall down and others get built. It seems sometimes like everything is changing! Only diamonds last a long time.
Diamonds do last a long time, but, like everything else, they will also change. You and I know someone who does not change. Jesus never changes. People come and go and things change all the time, but Jesus always stays the same. Jesus is the same as he was 2,000 years ago and Jesus is the same today as he will be 2,000 years from now.
I'm glad to know Jesus who is so strong that he doesn't change.
Dearest Lord Jesus: You knew me when I was very little and you loved me then. You love me now as well. We thank you for your love. Amen.
