Conquering the world
Children's sermon
Object:
a picture of Alexander the Great or another famous
conqueror
Good morning! Here is a picture of a very famous man. This
is Alexander the Great (or some other conqueror). Let me tell you
about what he did. (Give them a brief description of his
conquests.) Would you agree that this man was one of the greatest
conquerors in the world? (Let them answer.)
I want you to know that right here in this church this
morning, we have with us some people who are even greater
conquerors than Alexander. In fact, we have some people right
here in this church this morning who have conquered the whole
world! Look around the church and tell me who that might be. (Let
them look around and try to figure out who you are talking
about.) Actually, I'm talking about everyone in this church who
believes that Jesus is the Son of God. The Bible says that
everyone who believes in Jesus has conquered the entire world. Do
all of you believe in Jesus? (Let them answer.) Well, good! That
means that you have conquered the world. The world can no longer
control you or make you think it is more important than God.
That's what the Bible means when it says we have conquered the
world. It means we can't be controlled by the world because we
belong to God. Let's thank God for making us conquerors.
Dear God: We are so happy that You have given us faith so that we
can believe in Jesus and conquer the world. We thank You for
giving us the power to overcome all the temptations of the world.
Please keep us strong in our faith in Your Son, Jesus. Amen.
