First Thoughts: The story about the beheading of John the Baptist is pretty disturbing, but it does give us an opportunity to reflect with our children the need for good discernment in making decisions -- and in whether or not we should keep promises. To start, I encourage you to think of times in your life when you sacrificed or compromised your own sense of what was right for the sake of protecting or maintaining a certain relationship you had. How about a time when you decided to do the right thing even though it cost you a relationship? What were the consequences there?
