A Call To Worship
Worship Aids, Lectionary Year B
Call To Worship (based on Ephesians 1:3-14)
One: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
All: who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.
One: In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses,
All: according to the riches of his grace that he lavished on us.
One: With all wisdom and insight he has made known to us the mystery of his will
All: according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ,
One: as a plan for the fullness of time,
All: to gather up all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
One: In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance,
All: having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his counsel and will,
One: so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory.
All: This is the pledge of our inheritance toward redemption as God's own people, to the praise of his glory.
Invocation
Lord, you found us; you called us. We respond to your call this morning with dedication and praise. We are gathered in your name, and while waiting for the fulfillment of history, we celebrate the glory of your plan for our lives. Bless us as your people. Together in your name we pray. Amen.
Unison Psalm (Psalm 24)
The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it; for he has founded it on the seas, and established it on the rivers.
Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place?
Those who have clean hands and pure hearts, who do not lift up their souls to what is false, and do not swear deceitfully.
They will receive blessing from the LORD, and vindication from the God of their salvation.
Such is the company of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah.
Lift up your heads, O gates! and be lifted up, O ancient doors! that the King of glory may come in.
Who is the King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O gates! and be lifted up, O ancient doors! that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.
Offering Prayer
Day by day, Lord, we grow in appreciation of all you have done for us. Day by day our resolve grows to give in return, to the work of your church, for the glory of your name. Amen.
Children's Benediction
