For we hear that some of you are living in idleness, mere busybodies, not doing any work.
-- 2 Thessalonians 3:11
There were those within the church of Thessalonica that were convinced that the Lord was coming at any time, and they, therefore, concluded that there was no point in continuing to work or make any effort at all. They not only refused to work for a living, but also they refused to work in the church. They concluded that since Jesus was returning at any moment, there was no point in focusing attention on the life of the church.
