Assistant: O God, what is the purpose of our being part of your people, the church?
People:
Each of us has been called by the Spirit to a life of faith, hope, and love; help us as Christians to be channels of your coming to our world and its peoples.
Pastor:
Mighty God, you have created us in love and set us on a course of meaningful life: give us your gracious help, that we will use all you have granted us to fulfill the promise you have instilled in us.
Assistant: O God, what is to be the outcome of our lives?
People:
Each of us lives our span of time, and then will be called home to you; help us to make the most of the time you allot us.
Assistant: O God, what is to be the impact of our living?
People:
Each of us is in relationship with others, whose lives we influence and affect; help us to be a positive and salutary presence for all we meet.
Assistant: O God, what is to be the reward of our following you?
People:
Each of us is promised eternal life with you; help us to know that no more valuable prize could be awarded us.
Pastor:
Saving Lord, you have given us far more than we deserve or earn and it is your will that your gifts grow in us to the point of our sharing your glory. Save us from rejecting your grace or from hiding your gifts; but strengthen us to give and use all your blessings, to your honor and praise.
(Other petitions may be included here.)
Assistant: As you have given us grace upon grace,
People:
So may we faithfully use and share your gifts;
Pastor:
That in the end, you will bless us even more
All: With life eternal, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen (Our Father ...)
