Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
First Lesson: Habakkuk 1:1-4; 2:1-4
Theme: In Letters Big Enough To Read
Call To Worship (based on Habakkuk 2:1-4)
One: I will stand at my watchpost, and station myself on the rampart;
All: I will keep watch to see what he will say to me, and what he will answer concerning my complaint.
Right Side: Then the Lord answered me and said: Write the vision;
Left Side: make it plain on tablets, so that a runner may read it.
Women: For there is still a vision for the appointed time; it speaks of the end, and does not lie.
Men: If it seems to tarry, wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay.
All: Look at the proud! Their spirit is not right in them, but the righteous live by their faith.
Collect (prayer for offering)
Today we lay at the altar the gifts of our wealth, our caring, our intentions, and our faith. Use these gifts for the work of your kingdom. Guide us as faithful stewards in this great work. Then it might truly be said of us, today salvation has come to our house! Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we watch and wait for the coming of our king. We wait, and certainly it seems that you tarry. Yet you have promised that all good things will happen in your time. We live by our faith, or at least that is our claim. This day, purge us of all pride and create us as your humble servants. Fill our hearts with your vision, and live within us so brightly that even those who rush by us will be able to plainly read your message of hope and salvation through our words and our lives. Let all we do reveal your glory! Amen.
