Lectionary Worship Workbook
Series III, Cycle A
Object:
Litany Of Confession
P: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
I: We confess to you, O God, that we wish to be you.
II: We try to make you in our image and to define your power in ways
that set us above our neighbors.
I: We wish to control our own destinies.
II: We confess to you our worship of the world's power and wealth:
oil, land, and money;
strength, speed, and physical beauty.
Silence for self-examination and prayer
C: Loving God, every gift is from you. Break down the iron bars
that encase our hearts, that we might rejoice in the blessings you
shower upon all your children.
P: God's great beauty is made known in his love for you.
Rejoice, your sins are forgiven
in the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.
Rejoice, and sing his praise.
C: Amen.
Prayer Of The Day
P: Nations, races, and peoples will stream to you as you call their names, O God, for you alone cause all things to be. May your praise sound forth from our lips and your mercy flow from our hearts, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.
C: Amen.
Intercessory Prayers
After each petition:
L: O Lord, hidden in our words,
C: is your gift of love.
Offertory Prayer
C: Coins of the emperor line our pockets, yet your victory, Yahweh, Lord of hosts, is won when we trust in you alone. May we use every good gift in service of your beloved children, for the sake of him who gave himself for us, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Sending
A: You have called us by name that we may live.
C: Now may our faith in God become known
as you send us out to spread your word among all people.
Father, Son, + and Holy Spirit, your love has no end. Amen.
