Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Forgiveness
Call To Worship
The Lord has called us, his Church to be the salt of the earth, preserving what is good in our decaying society. He has called us to be lights in this world, providing direction and guidance amid human confusion. Let us neither be ashamed of our discipleship, nor hide our lights. Come, let us praise the Lord!
Invocation
O God, we praise you for your strong and relentless love, and we respond by coming to you in faith. We know that by your love we can count on your forgiveness for our sins of omission as well as commission. Through this time of worship help us to see again our need to forgive those who trespass against us, and to show forth the same mercy and love we expect from you. Amen.
Confession
Almighty God, in whose love there is mercy, we come together to be renewed in life as we are forgiven. We confess our sin and seek to be open to you and to one another. We know life goes bad when we ignore the claims of love, but we continue to isolate ourselves and run away from your loving care. Bring us back once again, O God, and renew our spirits by your love. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Father, with these gifts we reach across the barriers of time, of social status, of creed, of language, of color, and of economic position, proclaiming our mutual caring as children of the one God and Father of us all. Amen.
Hymns
"Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty"
"Forgive Our Sins As We Forgive"
"There's A Wideness In God's Mercy"
