COMMENTARY ON THE LESSONS
Lesson 1: Song of Solomon 2:8-13 (C)
In all likelihood, this book, generally known as Song of Songs, was included in the canon because it was supposed to have been written by Solomon. Later scholarship discards that possibility, leaving us with a love poem of sorts, one which, in the absence of any mention of God, is hard-pressed to justify itself as a biblical book. Yet that it is, and if we agree that the Holy Spirit guided the process of canonization, then this book must serve a purpose.
