A couple of weeks ago, I re-seeded a portion of my lawn. As I
raked the newly sown areas, some seed remained on top in the airy
lightness of day. Other seed tumbled into the darkness under the
dirt and peat which I raked back and forth. It is the seed which
sank into the darkness of the soil that has germinated, while the
seed which remained in the light of day is wasting away. It's in
the darkest and loneliest moments of waiting and wondering, deep
in the soil of pain, half fearful and half hopeful, that God
