Call to Worship (based on Isaiah 49)
Leader: Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth;
People: Break forth, O mountains, into singing!
Leader: For the Lord has comforted his people and will have compassion on his suffering ones.
People: God has inscribed us on the palms of his hands.
All: God is great and God is good. Let us worship God.
Call to Confession
Jesus tells us not to worry about earthly things, but we never listen. Let us bring those worries to God, and ask for forgiveness for wasting precious energy on being anxious.
Prayer of Confession
Calm and loving God, Jesus tells us not to worry about our lives - what we eat or drink, what we wear or how we look. But, we do that, O God - and so much more. Anxiety fills us. "What will people think if I do this?" or "Oh, I'm such a klutz - no one will ever like me." Forgive us, God, for wasting precious time worrying about the little things. Help us to turn our anxiety over to you - to let you guide our thoughts and actions. Let our worries be turned to little joys as we go about our daily lives. We want to strive first for the kingdom of God and your righteousness, knowing that you give us all we need. Help us to say, "I won't worry about tomorrow. God is here with me today." Amen.
Assurance of Forgiveness
Jesus tells us that our heavenly Father knows what we need. God gave us all we need in the gift of his Son, Jesus, the Christ. And Jesus gave us the greatest gift, that of his life, so that we may always know we are forgiven. By his resurrection we know that we are also redeemed to new life. Alleluia! Amen.
Scripture Readings

2 9
1 10
All Voices: Thus says the Lord,
Voice 1: In a time of favor I have answered you;
Voice 10: On a day of salvation I have helped you;
Voice 2: I have kept you and given you as a covenant to the people.
Voice 9: to establish the land,
Voice 3: To apportion the desolate heritages;
Voices 1--5: Saying to the prisoners,
Voices 6--10: Come out,
Voices 1--5: To those who are in darkness,
Voices 6--10: Show yourself.
Voice 8: They shall feed along the ways, on all the bare heights shall be their pasture;
Voice 4: They shall not hunger or thirst, neither scorching wind nor sun shall strike them down,
Voice 7: For he who has pity on them will lead them.
Voice 5: And by springs of water will guide them.
Voice 6: And I will turn all my mountains into a road, and my highways shall be raised up.
Voices 1--3: Lo, these shall come from far away,
Voices 8--10: And lo, these from the north and from the west,
Voices 4--7: And these from the land of Syrene.
All Voices: Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing!
Voices 1--5: For the Lord has comforted his people,
Voices 6--10: The Lord has forsaken me;
All Voices: My Lord has forgotten me.
Voice 1: Can a woman forget her nursing child,
Voice 10: Or show no compassion for the child of her womb?
Voices 2--3: Even those may forget
Voices 8--9: Yet I will not forget you.
Voices 4--7: See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands;
All Voices: Your walls are continually before me.
Matthew 6:24--34: This passage is a good one to be memorized and given as if Jesus were talking informally to a large group of people. It is still part of the Sermon on the Mount. It might be well done by a member of your youth group - one who is involved in forensics or debate at their school.
Prayer after the Offering
God, may the gifts we bring today help to bring solace to those in need. May our gifts serve to alleviate worry for those who have no food, no proper clothes, no clean water. May we provide comfort to others as we seek your kingdoms on earth. Amen.
Benediction
Leader: Go out into this day filled with purpose and joy!
People: We go as birds of the air, knowing that our God will care for us. Our hearts are lightened by that knowledge.
Leader: Seek ye first the kingdom of God and God's righteousness.
People: And all things shall be given unto us. Alleluia!
Leader: May the grace of God, the love of Christ, and the energy of the Holy Spirit fill our hearts with joy! Amen.
