Made Clean

Object:
a large clear plastic container (pretzel container maybe) with yucky stuff in it like old banana peels, egg shells, dirt, trash.
I have a really amazing story to tell you today. But it first starts out with this yucky plastic container. This has all kinds of trash and smelly things in it. Who wants to smell it? I don't think you would even want to sit beside this! It reminds me of a story in the Bible. It is a picture of the life of a man in the Bible that came out to see Jesus one day. His life was really bad, he didn't live in a home or even wear clothes. Instead he lived in a cemetery. Yet he knew Jesus could help him and knelt down before him. Amazingly Jesus made a huge change in his life. He knew about Jesus and it says in Luke 8:28 that he calls him "Son of the Most High God." So he knew about Jesus but he really got to know Jesus that day. His life became changed and cleaned up -- just like this container being smelly and ugly so now it is all cleaned out. (Clean container out as you talk.) We are told, "they found the man from whom the demons had gone out sitting at Jesus feet, dressed and in his right mind."
It doesn't matter how horrible a person's life might be, it is not beyond God's ability to change it.
We have a lot of evil and bad people in the world today, people that don't seem to be in their right mind, hurting themselves and others. We need to pray for them that Jesus will clean their life up so that they can be like our man in the story. He went home and told how much God had done.
So how do we apply this to our lives?
When you see and hear bad things in the news about people, remember that God loves them as well and is very powerful. We need to pray that others will run to Jesus to be changed and made clean by him.
