God of understanding, there are some issues about which I feel so strongly that I find myself getting really angry with those who have another point of view. After all, I know I'm right, and if they all listened to reason, they'd realise that! God of understanding, help me to sort out the different strands in my complex emotions. Help me to become aware of my deeply set prejudices, and not to mistake them for integrity. Give me openness of mind and spirit, so that I may actually hear and consider what other people say and think. And when I do reach a considered conclusion, give me the humility necessary to admit to my change of mind and heart.

Show all those elected representatives of their country that reputation is less important than integrity, and that losing face matters nothing beside issues of justice. Today we pray especially for politicans in opposition, especially those who face imprisonment or torture because of their strongly held views.
