True Accounts Of Visions, Angels, And Healing Miracles
We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. (vv. 7-8)
When we lived in Dubuque, I often drove down Kennedy Avenue when I went shopping. Kennedy ends abruptly at a stoplight, where it intersects with a major highway. As you approach this intersection you cannot see more than a few yards to the left, because of the hill Kennedy was cut through. One afternoon I was stopped behind another car at this stoplight. I was a bit tired, but watching the light intently. Since I was practicing driving one-footed (I usually use my left for the brake and right for the gas), I was keenly aware of wanting to make a quick response when the light changed. When the change came, the car ahead of me started through the light. When I went to move my foot from the brake to the gas, I felt something pushing down on my knee. I could not move my foot! I looked down at my knee and foot, saw nothing, and then the sensation was gone. Just as my car started to move, a cattle truck roared through the red light from the left. I hit the brakes again and was stunned by the coincidence that had just occurred. I have no doubt that if my leg had not been frozen, either I, the driver behind me, or both of us, would have been in a serious accident. Needless to say, I thanked God for keeping us safe, showing me his presence in such a clear way, and allowing me more time to work on my human/spiritual development.
