Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
Second Lesson: 2 Timothy 3:14--4:5
Theme: The Other 3:16
Call To Worship (based on 2 Timothy 3:14-17)
One: Today we gather as your people and call to mind the words of your servant Paul
All: when he wrote from prison to Timothy and said --
Men: but as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it,
Women: and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
Right Side: All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
Left Side: so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.
Collect
Lord, your words are a guide to us, a light in dark places, a lamp on the hidden paths of our lives. Your Word is a gift, which is new every day, rewritten by the Spirit on our hearts so that new meaning and old interpretations mix and melt together, making it possible for us to discern your will for us. As we gather to praise you, worship you, adore you, let our thoughts be guided by the inspiration of your creation visible and invisible around us, the comfort of your presence in your risen Son and your living Word, and the constant action of your abiding Spirit, that we may magnify your name and tell your story to all the nations. Guide us today and every day. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession (From 2 Timothy 4:2)
Let us proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching.
