Call To Worship
Leader: We can take a lot of pressure if we have the proper underpinning.
People: God is our foundation.
Leader: We can do what we must to overcome evil if we are aware of the guiding presence of God.
People: God is our support.
All: Let us worship the one, eternal God.
Collect
Give us the listening ears of Christ, O God, as we journey through the crowded streets of life. Let our eyes see as those of Christ the suffering of those crouching against a wall. Let our tongues sustain the weary with a word. May we be servants in the name of Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
When we are the weary ones, O God, fortify us so we might bolster others. When we are those under injury, help us to keep from withdrawing. When we are the object of insult, keep us from shrinking with shame. Amen.
25C Hymns

Sunday Of The Passion (Sixth Sunday In Lent)
Second Lesson: Philippians 2:5-11
Theme: Thinking Like Jesus
Call To Worship
Leader: Let all mortal flesh keep silence.
People: At the name of Jesus every knee should bend.
Leader: Ponder nothing earthly-minded, for with blessing in the hand, Christ our God to earth descended,
People: At the name of Jesus every knee should bend.
Leader: Christ will give to all the faithful bread of life for heavenly food
People: At the name of Jesus every knee should bend.
Leader: That the powers of hell may vanish as the shadows clear away.1
All: Every knee should bend.
Collect
Thank you, God, for coming in human likeness so we might know the possibility of coming closer to you. Thank you for showing us, by Christ's example, how to become more like Jesus. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
We confuse thinking like Jesus with being Jesus, God. We are not God. We cannot be you. When our compassion lets us see and respond to suffering, show us that you are the Spirit-within-us, reshaping us. Amen.
25C Hymns
"Ride On! Ride On In Majesty" Tune: ST. DROSTANE
"Spirit Of The Living God" Tune: LIVING GOD
"Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence" Tune: PICARDY

1. From Liturgy of St. James, "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence."
Sunday Of The Passion (Sixth Sunday In Lent)
Gospel: Luke 22:14--23:56
Theme: "From Now On"
Call To Worship
Leader: "From now on," Jesus told the disciples at the last meal he shared with them. "From now on" -- these are dreaded words, sometimes hopeful words. They are definitely things-are-going-to-be-different words.
People: "From now on," the employer says, the teacher says, the parent says, we say to ourselves. "From now on" -- these words bring on a shiver, a sigh, a promise.
All: This is a day of new beginnings.
Collect
We come here to sit at the kitchen table with Jesus, O God. We come to walk with Christ through this Holy Week. We will not let him walk alone. Help us extend the walk with others we call by name who also suffer. Forgive us, also, when we let them down during the week. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
"From now on" until when, God? "From now on" awakens our curiosity. Are we still part of "from now on" in this new century? How will the events of this Passion Week affect us -- our routine, our patterns, our sense of ease? How will the way we treat others, meet our work and living worlds, and the way we look in the mirror be different? Amen.
25C Hymns
"This Is A Day Of New Beginnings" Tune: BEGINNINGS OR "All Glory, Laud, And Honor" Tune: EULOGIA or ST. THEODULPH
"The Time Was Early Evening" Tune: AFTON WATER OR "For The Bread Which You Have Broken" Tune: BENG-LI or FOR THE BREAD OR "O Love Divine, What Hast Thou Done" Tune: SELENA
"Were You There" Tune: WERE YOU THERE OR "Jesus Took The Bread" Tune: NEW HOPE
