Call To Worship
Leader: Let us come together and worship, all who have received God's mercy!
People: For we were lost and in bondage, yet the Lord has heard our pleas.
Leader: As in the days of Moses, God spared the children of Israel.
People: For there is no god other than the Almighty God of Israel.
Leader: And God's mercy and grace have spared us all.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, Almighty God of the Universe, even as You spared the children of Israel in the Passover, You have spared us from Your wrath. Lord, help us to reach out and save others. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often we would think we are worthy of Your mercy and forgiveness, and that somehow we deserve to be spared from Your wrath. Forgive us, Lord, for our blindness, for we are each and every one sinners, yet through Christ You have called us Your own. Forgive us, Lord, for our times of rebellion, and continue to shepherd us home. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah"
"O Love Divine, What Hast Thou Done"
"When I Survey The Wondrous Cross"
Maundy Thursday
Second Lesson: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
Theme: The Last Supper
Call To Worship
Leader: Come, let us gather together, all who would commune with the Lord.
People: But are we welcome in God's house as sinners before the Lord?
Leader: Christ died on the cross that all sinners might seek God's holy face.
People: Even we who have fallen so deep in sin, may we be at God's holy table?
Leader: As we repent and seek God's mercy, in Christ we are each washed clean.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, You have steadfastly sought to reach out to us and You have even rescued us when we were in rebellion. We are blessed so by Your presence, Lord; lead us to reach out to others. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often we have been willing to receive Your blessings but we have failed to understand that You meant for us to become blessings in the lives of others. Too often we chose to study and learn the Holy Scriptures, but then would rather not share the Gospel with the hurting world around us. Forgive us, Lord, and lead us to witness for You. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Come And Let Us Sweetly Join"
"Love Divine, All Loves Excelling"
"Let Us Break Bread Together"
Maundy Thursday
Gospel: John 13:1-17, 31b-35
Theme: Christian as servant
Call To Worship
Leader: Let us gather together and worship, all who would serve the risen Lord.
People: No greater love can we share than to reach out and care for others.
Leader: Christ, the Lord, chose to be our servant in all He did.
People: In obedience to God Christ died for us on the cross.
Leader: No one is greater than the Master, so let us be servants unto the world.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, the Gospel is such a paradox to us: to be great we must be willing to serve. Yet Christ set a living example in washing the feet of the disciples. Make us servants, O Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often we would hear a call to greatness, but we would not hear Your call to become the servants of all. Too often we desire to be important, yet we would not choose to wash the feet of the disciples as You did. Forgive us, Lord, for our pride, and do whatever it takes to lead us to love humbly and desire to serve others for You. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"In The Garden"
"What Wondrous Love Is This"
"Open My Eyes"
