We come this holy night newly rejoicing in the possibility of peace throughout this world. We stand in awe before the one who offers courage for right living. We give thanks for a renewed hope of justice for all people. In your honor, O God, on this night of calm, we pause to invite the holy child to come in. Amen.
Confession
On us, who live in lands of deep darkness, you shine the light. For us, who live from day to day going our own way, you increase joy. For us, who carry all sorts of burdens, you have cracked their yoke. We confess our alleluias. Amen.

Here is God's grace. Here is God's salvation brought for everyone. On Christmas Eve, where fear meets hope, this holy birth is a gift from God. Come, for Christ the Savior is born.
Collect
Already, O Giver of the Gracious Gift, you teach us about simplicity with the humble birth. Salvation cannot be bought. Its only agenda is our well-being. Salvation awakens within us the answer of responsible living. Thanks be to God. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
This Christmas we would focus on the simplicity of your grace and salvation, O God. Teach us through the life of this newborn infant to live hopeful, unpretentious lives. Let us practice self-control. Let us be honest. Let us enrich our awareness of you, O God. In celebration of the Christmas birth. Amen.

Christmas Eve/Day
Gospel: Luke 2:1-14 (15-20)
Theme: Christmas
Call To Worship
Leader: Come to the manger. Come, see for yourself.
People: Holy Infant, the story is truth.
Leader: Don't keep me in a manger back then. Lift me out with your arms.
People: What would I do with you?
Leader: Let me grow. Take me with you where I can make a difference now.
People: Come into my heart, Jesus.
Collect
We burst into song at your wonderful surprises, O Wonderful God. We can contain ourselves no more than the angels could. Your realm and our life are one with this birth. Alleluia! Alleluia! Christ, Emmanuel, is born! Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
The story, O Generous God, is truth. Perhaps the first census requiring the Bethlehem trip was no coincidence. It chanced to record the family as part of history. We like the certainty of facts, O God. But now, we confess to the miracle despite our worldliness. We confess to the miracle because of our humanness. Accept our alleluia, O God. Amen.

"Infant Holy, Infant Lowly" Tune: W ZLOBIE LEZY
