Call To Worship
Leader: Let us give praise and honor to the Lord God Almighty!
People: For God has been merciful to us and blessed us in many wonderful ways.
Leader: God would have us be witnesses for all of the world to hear,
People: Proclaiming God's mercy and power but not our own goodness or worth.
Leader: Then let our hearts be joined this day in praise and worship of God.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, we are truly blessed by Your loving kindness toward us even when we have been so undeserving and unfaithful to Your Word. Help us to share the news of Your Love with all who will hear. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, You have blessed us so wonderfully that sometimes we have become complacent and begun to feel we deserve totally comfortable lives. We have even sacrificed our loyalty to You that we might keep our comfort. Forgive us, Lord, and remind us anew of the far-reaching commitment we made as Christians to seek Your will for our lives and to be about caring for others. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Come, Thou Fount Of Every Blessing"
"Come, We That Love The Lord"
"I Surrender All"

Call To Worship
Leader: Let all of God's people gather this day and give praise to Almighty God!
People: For we are weak and cannot stand alone against the forces of evil.
Leader: But God's power is sufficient to sustain us against evil in all of life.
People: We give praise to the Lord as we stand firm in God's care.
Leader: Our testimony is faithful: it is not in our strength we live, but God's.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty God, Your strength has sustained us even when we were weak and unable to hear Your will. Help us to clearly proclaim Your glory that others may come to know and love You as we do. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, many times we have gotten so involved in dealing with our struggles in life that we have begun to think we are strong enough to take care of ourselves. Lord, we have even failed to share our worries with You in prayer and behaved as though You have no real power in our lives at all. Forgive us, Lord, and be our strength in life that others may see You. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"A Mighty Fortress"
"Forward Through The Ages"
"Blessed Assurance"
Proper 9

Gospel: Mark 6:1-13
Theme: Empowered to proclaim the Kingdom
Call To Worship
Leader: The Lord is our strength and our salvation!
People: All the days of our lives we will trust in the Lord.

People: All the days of our lives we will trust in the Lord.
Leader: Then let our voices declare God's glory for all the world to hear!
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty God, in Your wisdom You have called us to carry word of Your salvation to all who have the ears to hear. Give us the strength and courage to go wherever You would send us, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we have depended on our own devices and means instead of trusting in You and Your leadership. In our worldly ways we have denied Your power and refused to accept Your loving help.
