Call To Worship
Leader: How wonderful it is, how pleasant for God's people to live together in harmony!
People: The Lord has promised his blessing -- life that never ends.
All: Thanks be to God!
Collect
Lord, we know that before your death you commanded your followers to love one another. Following your resurrection the believers lived together in harmony, and no one in the group was in need. We come this morning rejoicing in your living presence among us, and asking that your Spirit may stir up within us that love for each other which will bring about the blessedness of unity which is pleasing to you. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, we are part of a Christian Community. We are supposed to be a caring, loving family of your sons and daughters, but there are those in our immediate family here in this fellowship, and still others in the extended family we do not know personally, who are in need. Forgive us for our lack of concern and failure to act to meet those needs. Renew a right spirit within us, and by the power of your Spirit teach us how to live in unity and harmony with one another. Amen.
Hymns
"Christ Is Alive"
"Ask Ye What Great Thing I Know"
Second Sunday Of Easter
Second Lesson: 1 John 1:1--2:2
Theme: Christ Makes Known The Eternal Life
Call To Worship
At Easter Christ revealed to us the Eternal Life with the Father. This life is available to us now in the fellowship that we have with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.
Come, let us give thanks and praise to our Risen Lord.
Collect
From the excitement and fullness of Easter to the routine of the Sunday after -- from a closeness to you to times of seeming separation -- such is the pattern for many of us, O God. Come to us this morning with the refreshing power of your Spirit to rekindle in us the flame of faith. Thank you, God, for the assurance of your forgiveness and your healing touch which brings wholeness to the brokenness of life. In Jesus's name. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Heavenly Father, when we choose to walk in the darkness of sin we not only disrupt our relationship with you, but we rupture the bonds of fellowship that unite us with fellow Christians. We thank you for the promise of your forgiveness, Lord, and seek the power of your Spirit as we endeavor to walk in the Light that we may have fellowship with you and with one another. In Jesus'Òname we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Come, Christians, Join To Sing"
"Jesus Is All The World To Me"
Second Sunday Of Easter
Gospel Lesson: John 20:19-31
Theme: Through Faith You May Have Life
Call To Worship
Leader: There is one God and Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all.
People: For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
Leader: Come, walk in the way of the Lord with songs of gladness and joy.
People: The Lord is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon him in truth.
Collect
O Lord, we hear about people who have had miraculous experiences of your presence, but because we have not our faith in you is overshadowed by our doubts. We gather this morning that we, too, may know your living presence, receive your gracious forgiveness, and have our faith rekindled. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O Living Lord, we have missed out on so much in life because we have faltered when we were supposed to be following you. Strengthen our faith and help us to find that full life that awaits those who believe that you are the Son of God in whose name we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Beams Of Heaven As I Go"
"My Faith Looks Up To Thee"
