Lou wonders where he fits in among the "Type-A multi-tasker" younger employees at his
office. They constantly are talking on their cell phones as they work in front of their
keyboards. Lou is of an older generation who believed in a slower paced, solid work
ethic. Has the ethics and lifestyle of Lou simply become an icon of the past?
Later, he discovers that some of his fellow employees have family communication issues that result in bitter domestic disputes. Many of these fellow workers have taken drugs or pep pills to keep them operating at the pace they continue to set for themselves. Then he reads today's Mark 6 text. Even Jesus Christ himself needed to get away. Mark 6 is "gospel" for Lou in times when younger, fast paced workers in a global economy compete with him in a competitive job market. He knows he is part of the eternal kingdom of God. He is not obsolete in God's economy.
