I must make a confession...

I must make a confession. I really like those times following the service when the congregation is buzzing with excitement over the sermon. These are rare occasions, but sometimes ideas, language, and emotion all come together to make a sermon which seems to have exceptional communication and spirit for a congregation. I like it when parishioners, leaving church, are full of compliments about what I have said and how I have said it.
Perhaps it is all right for me to like it a little, but I like it too much. I was reminded of this as I read Jesus' words: "We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty."
