He was a rebellious youth...

He was a rebellious youth. His parents had lectured him until they were blue in the face, with little results. Finally, they decided to try treating him with love, be positive, and hope he would respond. One Saturday night, as the boy was about to leave the house, the parents called to him, "Have a good time, Junior." He angrily responded, "Don't tell me what to do!"
That could have been Peter's response to Jesus' suggestion. After all, who was the experienced fisherman here? They had tried all night without results. Peter could have told Jesus to mind his own business. But, he didn't. There was something about his request that they should try again that must have inspired confidence, that had the power of persuasion. They were already halfway believing in Jesus. No wonder, after the huge catch and Jesus' invitation, "they left everything and followed him."
