"Human destiny hinges upon the accuracy of thought transmission."*
What happened to the Mount on Transfiguration would have been closed to us if Jesus and the disciples had not found ways of transmitting it from generation to generation.
Jesus did so by coming down the mountain to heal, to preach, and to prepare for the Cross. The disciples had to learn. Jesus taught them, "... he who is least among you all is the one who is great."
Peter and John and James had felt the impact of the ineffable God and were privileged to see Jesus transfigured by him. To come to be able to transmit this experience and redeem human destiny they had to let go all pretensions to special favor and learn to accept little children in Jesus' name and, with their peers, be least of all.
