Lists of greatest things abound...

Lists of greatest things abound, and everybody has their own. Ask any 10 people what the three greatest movies are, and you would get 10 different lists, including such movies as, The Ten Commandments, Bringing Up Baby, Casablanca, It's a Wonderful Life, maybe even Blazing Saddles. Lists of the greatest cities of the world almost certainly include New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, New Dehli, Stockholm. And the world's greatest athlete: Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Hank Aaron, Bruce Jenner, all would top somebody's list. Try asking a group of people what they think are the greatest books or the greatest discovery. You'll discover everyone has a list.
Paul gives his list of the great spiritual gifts, listing tongues, interpretation, faith, knowledge, prophetic powers, generosity, among others. But then he gets down to work and pares the list to just three: faith, hope, and love. Still not satisfied, he further refines the list to just one: love.
Jesus did the same thing (Luke 10:25-28).
