Mount Corcovado overlooks the city...

Mount Corcovado overlooks the city of Rio de Janeiro and is the most prominent geographic spot in that area. Sixty years ago a huge statue of Jesus Christ was erected there, and has served as a reminder of his supremacy in the world. However, now the large stone monument is beginning to crumble. A Brazilian newspaper recently said, "The greatest risk is that a piece of the statue may fall on some tourists. Two million people a year visit Christ the Redeemer."
As Brazilians seek ways to save the statue from crumbling, it is important for us to realize that even if the statue were to fall, the real Christ would remain. Forty days after he arose from the grave, Christ ascended to be with the Father where he rules at the right hand of God. Just as important, his spirit remains alive in the world and shall until the end of time.
Jesus said, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end."
